Out shopping

Mum and i went penzance shopping yesterday. i bought a new pc charger, and im glad to say it's working great, i really missed using my laptop I'm happy now :) . i also bought two fab new ds games touchmaster3 and 101 in 1 games. they are both good games, i will be playing them later on today :) . mum bought a new coat and just in time too, the weather was ok in penzance while we were shopping. but as soon as we got on the bus it started to rain. we stopped off in town on the way back. but got soaked :( oh well we still had a nice time. i just hope the weather improves soon, its been raining all day today. I'm glad I'm not going anywhere today thats for sure. yesterday was a funny kind of day. two goth's male & femail got on our bus and i joked with mum, i said all we need now is a clown on the bus, then i couldent believe it, two people got on the bus, one had colorful hair raps in and the other wore her hair up high with a big flower in her hair, and bright makeup on. well we were in stitches laughing. and if that wasent bad enough. when we got in town later there was a man dressed in an old army uniform, waring a guitar on his back that had the name Elvis on it, the bus driver was in stitches laughing. i must admit, it was funny. so that was our day out, and quite an interesting one at that :) .

Joke - Three mens valuables

Three men are in a car which is about to crash. They all decided to throw out one valuable item.

The first person throws out a rock. The second throws out a pen. The third throws out a grenade.

Their car crashes and they survive the crash. Then, they all start walking back to get their valuable items.

The first man sees a little girl crying and asks her, "little girl, why are you crying? "The little girl replies, "someone threw a rock at me!"

The second guy sees a little boy crying and asks him, "Little boy, why are you crying? "The little boy replies, "someone threw a pen at me and poked me in the eye!"

The third guy sees a fat kid laughing really hard and so he asks him, "Hey kid, why are you laughing so hard?" The fat kid replies, "I farted and my house blew up."

A Cornish poem

Here is another Cornish poem i like, i thought id share this with you today :)

Trelawny

A good sword and a trusty hand
A merry heart and true,
King james's men shall understand
What Cornish lads can do!

And have they fixed the where and
when?
And shall Trelawny die?
Here's twenty thousand Cornish men
shall know the reason why!.

Salt Dough wall decorations recipe

A few days ago, i made these salt dough wall decorations. for my room, i wonted to make some nice wall decorations that would go with my new bedding set & curtains. i wonted a new look for my room , so i have been buying brown and beige color items and new bedside lamps. i had fun making the wall decorations, it was the first time i've ever tried making something from salt dough, one wall tile i made did crack, and bits broke off, so that one was no good i had to throw that one away. but the rest turned out fine. after i made the dough i used pastry cutters for the shapes, and added some textures using a fork, a pin and the rounded end of a paint brush. then i put the shapes in the oven, BUT MAKE SHORE THE OVEN IS AT THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE or else it will crack the dough, i made that mistake with the wall tile. when the shapes were cooked hard. i left them to go cold. then i painted them with acrylic paints. the next day i put the first coat of varnish on them, leaving the front side to dry first before turning them over and varnishing the back. i varnished them three times on each side. when all the varnishing was done and dry. i finished them by threading some ribbon trough the holes, to hang them up with. I'm really pleased with how they turned out. DON'T FORGET TO MAKE HOLES IN THE DOUGH BEFORE COOKING TO HANG THEM UP WITH.

Here is the salt dough recipe:-

230 g/8 oz/2 cups plain flour
200 g/7 oz/1 cup salt
250 ml/8 fl oz/1 cup water
Oven temp 120 oC/250 0F/gas 1/2 cook until the dough is completely hardened all over. mix together the flour, salt and half the water in a mixing bowl.
knead the dough well, gradually adding more water until the dough has a smooth, firm consistency. if it's too dry add a tiny amount of water. if it's too sticky add a little more
flour. roll the dough out with a rolling pin , but don't roll it out too thin. then make the shapes you wont. then put in oven to bake, until the shapes are hard all over. when cold paint them with acrylic paints. when paint is dry varnish both sides with POLYURETHANE MATT VARNISH. I USED CLEAR GLOSS POLYURETHANE VARNISH. leave to dry. here are the pics above of the one's i made. have fun!! shen xx

wyvale garden centre

On thursday mum and i went to Wyvale garden centre in Lelant, we needed to get more plants for the garden, to put in the flower beds. mum bought some alpine plants for the garden and i bought some plants for my room, i bought a Cacti garden pot plant, a Haworthia cacti plant, a Chamaedorea Elegans palm plant. i also bought some lovely brown metallic looking pots, and a craft book with 16 different craft projects to do. the new palm plant looks great, i just hope i can keep it alive. I'm looking forward to trying out, the craft projects in the book, I'm thinking of trying a salt dough project first, in the next couple of days. i've never made anything from salt dough before, just hope it go's well. we had a great time in Wyvale, shopping for plants. the garden is still not quite finished, but its getting there, my brother derek put the fish pond in better, on the other side of the garden and removed some soil from there, ready for the gravel to be put in. and mum and i put the last lot of flowers in the flower beds. we are just waiting for the gravel to be delivered on tuesday, to finish off both sides of the garden. the weather recently, has been great, perfect weather for gardening. well i guess the garden will be finished soon enough. it will look great when it's all done. here are the pics above of the plants i bought for my room. the garden pics will be on here, in the next few days. xx

In the garden

I've noticed recently that the back garden, was in a very sorry state after the bad winter weather we had, the rockery in the centre of the garden were full of weeds, overgrown flowers and a rotten wood border. mum, my brother derek and i decided to get rid of the rockery altogether and flatten it out. it took all day to do, and i also cut down a tree which was their, that had overgrown, it just didn't look right where it was and it was to big to dig up. we've kept the sloping rockery because it still looks good, it just needed two small tree's removed, some weeding done, and a few flowers put in. i also weeded and tidied up the rest of the garden, over a few day's and raked up the soil, to flatten out the centre of the garden. we are going to gravel or patio out, the centre bit leaving a sloping rockery at one end of the garden and a flower bed at the other end. we may put some pot plants in the centre. it should look great when it's all done. i still cant believe how much work we had to do, to get it looking like this, very hard work, but well worth it. we still have the flower bed to do and the gravel to put down. and maybe a few pot plants. i used to hate gardening until now. now i love it, and cant wait to see it finished. here are the pics above of what it looks like so far. i will post an update pic, when it's all finished. shen xx

The Summer Tea Treat

Every year our village, has a summer T treat, the children from the local school, get all dressed up and walk around the village, in the colorful parade with a brass band playing, some people were dressed as clowns and one was dressed in a bear suit. some children were wearing martial arts clothing. and other colorful clothing. and a man was walking on stilts all dressed up. they also make giant paper animals, to walk around the village with. it's great to watch the parade and listening to the band playing. up in the school field they have stall's selling cake's and other item's and also game's for the children to play. they have raffle stall's, and stall's selling toy's. the children and the oap's get a free T treat bun at the local school. i was hoping to get some photo's today of the event, but unfortunately my dog escaped from the garden, and i had to go and find him. oh well, i guess there's always next year hay!. xx
